Art and Technology Track Metaverse Special Program
The Beijing Tianjin Hebei Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is an international youth innovation and entrepreneurship competition jointly initiated by Tsinghua University and the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance. The Art and Technology Track, as a special track in the competition, aims to leverage the platform and resource advantages of the Art Science Base, with the theme of "Art Science Metaverse", encourage young people to face the future perspective, and aim to create new advantages in the digital economy. Under the concept of "Metaverse", new concepts and product services are promoted.
Since its launch, the competition has received great attention and active participation from global innovators, designers, universities, and enterprises. It has gathered numerous designers and teams from the digital cultural and creative field. After multiple rounds of selection, a total of 24 works have won awards, covering areas such as Future Science and Technology Museum, Future Museum, Space Exploration, Future City, and Cultural Heritage. And from November 27th to 28th, Tsinghua University held the "Metaverse Special Plan" award ceremony, the "Metaverse Special Plan" achievement display, and the "Metaverse Special Plan" online themed salon during the 2021 Maker Day event.
COMPETITON REVIEW
On October 25, 2021, the "Art and Technology Track - Metaverse Special Plan" was officially launched at Tsinghua University as one of the "School Enterprise Tour" series activities of the 2021 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week Beijing Branch and the Chuangxiang China Tsinghua University Station. Liu Pei, the General Coordinator of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education at Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Tsinghua University, and Deputy Secretary General of the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, delivered the opening speech of the launch ceremony. Fu Zhiyong, Director of the Art and Technology Innovation Base at Tsinghua University, Ren Hechun, Director of the Network Science Popularization Department at the China Science and Technology Museum, Duan Zhiyun, Vice President of Developer Relations at Roblox, and Ding Zhaochen, Director of the New Media System at Beijing Institute of Fashion, gave keynote speeches. Roblox Senior Technical Advisor Li Yan also provided explanations on the application of the event development engine for the participants.
As the competition kicked off, the organizing committee of the competition received entries from developers around the world. After the expert committee conducted online selection of the entries, a total of 24 excellent works from around the world were selected.
On the afternoon of November 27th, the "Metaverse Special Plan" award ceremony was held at the 2021 Tsinghua Maker Day. The event invited teams from Tsinghua University's Art and Technology Innovation Base Director Fu Zhiyong, the Executive Director of the Secretariat of the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance Yu Cangbi, and the Director of the Digital Entertainment Laboratory of Tsinghua University's Art and Technology Innovation Base Lin Binhua to receive special, first, and second prizes. Subsequently, Professor Fu Zhiyong also presented a keynote report titled "Metaverse: A New Realm of Art and Science Integration".
Award ceremony
During the 2021 Tsinghua Maker Day, a special exhibition on the achievements of the "Metaverse Special Plan" was also held, and Professor Fu Zhiyong and representatives of the award-winning team were invited to share the activities.
On the morning of the 28th, the organizing committee held a "Metaverse Special Plan" themed salon through online meetings and live broadcasts, with over 10000 views!
This online conference invited Professor Chen Xu from the School of Journalism at Tsinghua University, founder of the zero carbon metaverse think tank METAZ, Liu Fang from Jinli Interactive, and CTO Li Yan from Meimai Technology&Qiyu Education to share on the theme of "Art Metaverse", focusing on different directions such as research on the development of the metaverse, exploration and integration of technology, art, and fashion. Together, they discussed the ecological landscape of the future society and jointly promoted the ecological construction of the metaverse. And outstanding works such as "REO: Mars Painter", "New Dimension City", "2099 Mars Civilization Harmony City", "Apollo Exploration Program - Building a Future Thinking Mars Base", and "Jumping Simulator - World Wonders" were showcased in the cloud. Experts and scholars summarized and commented on the excellent works.
