About this book
"70 commonly used design tools"
"Covering 5 stages of design thinking"
"Design Professional Practical Tool Book"
The Design Thinking Tool Handbook is a reference book that includes an introduction to the usage of 70 commonly used design tools. Through this book, readers can understand design tools and the thinking patterns behind them, increase the number of candidate thinking paths, expand the width and breadth of thinking, help the smooth progress of design projects, and enhance the thinking ability of designers.
This book introduces the tools suitable for each of the five stages of design thinking: Empathy, Define, Imagination, Prototype, and Test. On this basis, taking design activities such as workshops as examples, the methods of using tool combinations were introduced.
I hope that through the introduction of tools and the thinking behind them, designers can help turn the thinking methods of predecessors into their own. Design thinking tools are the physical manifestation of design thinking - behind this form of expression, tools are the result of predecessors simplifying, facilitating, and visualizing successful thinking methods, in order to facilitate more designers and creators to learn from and solve more design problems.
But when using tools, we also need to be clear that tools cannot replace design thinking. Tools are pipelines, and thinking is the flowing content within them. The reason why design requires more inspiration than other industries is that predecessors can tell you through tools what kind of turning point their thinking has gone through, but they cannot directly convert their experience into our own. Tools can facilitate smooth process and basic output, while outstanding design requires user reflection. Tools do not provide solutions, only methods, techniques, techniques, and schedules. Do not let the design become a fill in the blank question due to the use of tools. Please be sure to maintain quick thinking, freedom and openness, and passion. The purpose of design is to solve problems in an appropriate way, rather than using tools, which is the core of this book.
This book is suitable as a reference for fields such as interaction design, service design, and industrial design, helping relevant designers inspire ideas and planning processes for design activities.
