How do we perceive climate?
The atmosphere is the outermost gas sphere on Earth, and we use our skin touch to perceive the cold, warm, dry, and wet climate on the ground. From the ground, we can only glimpse a corner of the sky, but from the universe, we can see the whole picture of the Earth.
The Universe Eight Music Box is an ongoing project at the Art and Technology Innovation Base of Tsinghua University. It is a new musical instrument that enables interaction between humans and the universe at the sound level. It consists of two parts: space and ground. The space part is the input and trigger end of the instrument, while the ground part is the sound and interaction end of the instrument. Through the linkage of these two parts, the experiencer can hear music from all directions of the universe on the ground, achieving resonance between heaven and earth.
Cosmic sound is the result of audible conversion of wave data from various directions in the universe. The team transforms abstract mathematical information into sound forms that humans can perceive, collects waveform data from various planets in the universe, such as gamma rays, electromagnetic waves, etc., and creates unique music for planets in various directions. The space part of the device has been installed on the satellite board and will be launched into space by the end of 2022.
acceptance speech
In 2021, tens of thousands of scientists jointly issued a warning: the Earth is approaching or even crossing the climate critical point. "Global warming" is a familiar term to us, but on the ground, we can only perceive the temperature, dryness, and humidity of the climate, and cannot perceive climate change from a comprehensive perspective. In this context, the collision between the "Cosmic Music Box" and climate change has sparked a different spark. In the climate section of the project, from a cosmic perspective, space is used as the touchpoint of music, expressing climate through sound and advocating for sustainable development of the Earth through melody.
Thank you to all the teachers for their guidance throughout the journey, which has enabled us to overcome obstacles and overcome obstacles in the track of Chinese and American makers, and bring glory to our school! We will continue to explore more possibilities in the universe.
Wishing members of the "Universal Music Box" team
Being able to achieve one's ideals in the heart
Building an Ideal Future
Achieve a just cause!
