On June 16, 2023, the online launch ceremony of the China US Youth Maker Competition and the Beijing division was held. Chen Dali, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, Wang Hongwei, Vice President of Tsinghua University, and Shari Bistransky, Deputy Counselor of the News and Culture Department of the US Embassy in China, attended and delivered speeches. The launch ceremony was presided over by Fu Zhiyong, Director of the Art and Technology Innovation Base at Tsinghua University.

Chen Dali stated that in recent years, China US relations have encountered certain difficulties, and the epidemic has also hindered personnel exchanges between the two sides. In this context, the most important thing is to maintain confidence in cultural exchanges and unwaveringly carry out exchanges and cooperation in education between China and the United States. In order to stimulate the enthusiasm of young students in vocational colleges to participate in the competition, the China division of this year's competition has added vocational education sub tracks on the basis of the original competition, in order to improve the quality and innovative spirit of cultivating technical and skilled talents. I hope young creators can strengthen their confidence, explore and innovate, cooperate for mutual benefit, and tell the story of cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States.

Wang Hongwei stated that as one of the organizers of the competition and the organizer of the Beijing competition area, Tsinghua University has always attached great importance to international cooperation and formulated and implemented the "Tsinghua University 2030 Global Strategy". He hopes to explore new paths of innovative education through cooperation with overseas universities, and strive to achieve the organic unity and mutual promotion of teaching and scientific research. The China US Youth Maker Competition is one of the iconic projects for Tsinghua University to participate in international cooperation in youth innovation and education. Tsinghua University will continue to support the development of the competition and contribute to the cultivation of innovative talents worldwide. I hope that students can face the challenges of the path of science and technology innovation with self-improvement, take innovation as their unwavering pursuit, have a broad vision and bravely shoulder their mission, and strive to become the new generation to respond to global challenges.

Bi Shuyan stated that face-to-face communication and cooperation between Chinese and American young makers will undoubtedly enhance mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation, and progress between the two sides. The US Embassy in China will be committed to promoting cultural exchanges between China and the United States. I hope to see more Chinese and American students working hard together in the competition, and I also believe that the tenth year of the China US Youth Maker Competition will be the best year.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education's Study Abroad Service Center, Tsinghua University Academic Affairs Office, Basic Industrial Training Center, International Office, Intel Corporation, Beijing Gehua Design Co., Ltd., China University Science and Technology Park Alliance, as well as organizers from various sub regions across the country and the China US Youth Maker Exchange Center attended the launch ceremony.
