2022 China (Macau) International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo

From October 20th to 22nd, 2022, the innovative metaverse works created by the faculty and students of the Information Art and Design Department of Tsinghua University School of Fine Arts were exhibited at the 2022 China (Macau) International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo. The exhibition is hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and invites more than 30 outstanding and representative creative enterprises and institutions from mainland China and Macau to participate.


At the same time, a China (Macau) Creative Industry Conference was also held with the theme of "Creative China Diversified Macao". The conference was jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Economic and Financial Department of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and the China Association for Cultural Exchange with the assistance of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Cultural Bureau.

The team of teachers and students from the Department of Information Art and Design at Tsinghua University School of Fine Arts participated in this exhibition, and their works focused on exploring the multiple possibilities related to the metaverse. Attempt to reflect reality, experience reality, shape reality, and improve reality in virtual space.


The works presented in this exhibition are showcased in themes such as the Metaverse Cloud Hall and Cloud Exhibition Hall, Future Agricultural Heritage, Future Life, and Digital Science Popularization Hall. The "Art Science Metaverse · Cloud Hall and Cloud Exhibition Hall" showcases the innovative paradigm of cloud based conferences and online exhibition halls, exploring future scenarios such as entering the cloud universe as a digital identity for conferences, forums, and exhibitions. The "Future Agricultural Heritage Narrative Island" re narrates the cultural order of agricultural heritage sites through virtual scenarios, reconstructs a visual narrative island in a virtual ecology that is favorable for the times, places, and people, and combines future fragments to form a series of agricultural cultural heritage landscapes, constructing a new way of future narrative for the dissemination of agricultural cultural heritage. "Future Life - Artificial Microalgae Planet" is a controlled experimental system generated using artificial intelligence and genetic engineering technology, with microalgae as the main body, used to test whether humans can reshape a healthy biosphere through microalgae. The Wisland Deep Sea Planet 9 mission is the metaverse science popularization exhibition hall in 2050, where visitors will complete the Deep Sea Planet 9 mission - "Lost Sandbank" - under the leadership of the science popularization digital man Nous. The related creations have received support from the Art and Technology Innovation Base of Tsinghua University.

Future Agricultural Heritage Narrative Island

Agricultural heritage is the life memory and living cultural gene of regional agricultural production and lifestyle, reflecting the wisdom and spirit of a region, and is also an important component of world culture. Slicing, reassembling, and connecting the cultural genes of complex agricultural systems, making the disappearing culture a narrative connection of the metaverse, re narrating the cultural order of agricultural heritage sites through virtual contexts, and reconstructing visual narrative islands of favorable timing, location, and human harmony in virtual ecology. Combining future fragments to form a series of agricultural cultural heritage landscapes, constructing a new way of future narrative for the dissemination of agricultural cultural heritage. This work has received support from the FAO Food and Agriculture Organization.

Future Life - Artificial Microalgae Planet


In the future of frequent climate disasters, biologists, artists, and decision-makers are jointly exploring and proposing the use of blue carbon to alleviate climate crises. Microalgae Planet is a controlled experimental system generated using artificial intelligence and genetic engineering technology, with microalgae as the main body, used to test whether humans can reshape a healthy biosphere through microalgae. This experiment selected planets with three typical landforms, cultivated three types of algae suitable for growth, and presented them.

Wisland Deep Sea Planet 9 mission


Wisland is the Metaverse Science Popularization Exhibition Hall in 2050. During the 23rd connection to Wisland, your science popularization digital human Nous was tasked with the Deep Sea Planet's No. 9 mission - "Lost Sandbank". In this mission, Nous will complete the biological collection of three deep-sea areas and use the abilities acquired through embodied learning to resolve the crisis.
